Albert & Debbie Tano Medical Simulation Center

The Albert and Debbie Tano Simulation Center is a world-class multidisciplinary training and research facility part of the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Our mission is to develop transformative medical simulation curricula for our students and community. We advance clinical skills training using a hands-on approach that emphasizes deliberate practice and mastery of competencies through simulation technology. The center focuses on producing educational research that demonstrates enhanced student performance, improves patient safety, promotes continuous quality improvement, and advances the use of technology in medical training. Additionally, we seek to enhance continuing and interdisciplinary medical education by partnering with our community affiliates and allied health partners.

Our state-of-the-art Simulation Center features twenty Clinical Skills and assessment rooms including two high-fidelity, multi-purpose simulation suites. It also houses two large procedural skills suites for demonstrations, simulation activities and didactic instruction. All Clinical Skills and assessment rooms, including the two high-fidelity, multi-purpose simulation suites, are equipped with pan-tilt-zoom cameras, a paging system and recording capabilities.
