How giving gives back
Kelsea Grant, Class of 2022, was drawn to medicine due to a desire to work with underserved populations. So, when it came to choosing a medical school, she wanted a program that focused on the needs of these populations.
“That’s what the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is doing—and in an innovative way.” Throughout medical school, Kelsea volunteered to provide free community health screenings and worked with the Green Family Foundation NeighborhoodHELP to organize a health fair in Little Haiti.
Kelsea’s medical education was supported by the Association of Haitian Physicians Scholarship and the Carmel J. Barrau, MD, Scholarship.
A South Florida native of Jamaican descent, Kelsea plans on specializing in OB/GYN. “There’s so much need and space to advocate for women facing health disparities, specifically black women.”
