LCME & CQI

Since beginning its Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) preliminary accreditation survey in 2007, HWCOM has engaged in processes to ensure compliance with LCME standards and elements. Senior administrative staff developed processes for assessing medical education program outcomes that aligned with LCME accreditation standards, which led to successful achievement of full accreditation in 2013. Following a survey visit in October 2017, the LCME voted to continue full accreditation of the medical education program for an 8-year term. The next LCME survey visit will occur in academic year 2025–2026.

On an ongoing basis, a standing Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Committee monitors compliance with accreditation standards, identifies areas of weakness and sets goals for improvement, and oversees progress toward these goals. An Office of Accreditation and Quality supports the work of the CQI Committee, coordinating data collection and analysis, and managing documentation required by the LCME.
