Pre-medical Undergraduate Mentoring Program

Faculty Advisor: Andres Rodriguez, MD, Barbra Roller, Ph.D.

The Pre-medical Undergraduate Mentoring Program (PUMP) was founded in 2016 in an effort to connect medical students at the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine to undergraduate students at FIU interested in pursuing a career in Medicine. Each undergraduate accepted into the program is paired with a medical student who provides one-on-one mentoring and guidance in areas such as:

  • Class schedules
  • Extracurricular activities
  • Research
  • Shadowing
  • MCAT
  • AMCAS and Secondary applications
  • Interviewing
  • …and much more

Undergraduates also gain insight into life as a medical student as well as develop professionally through the many events hosted by PUMP. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Application workshops
  • Mock interviews
  • Simulations
  • Networking events
  • Joint events with other medical student organizations

Applications for undergraduates are accepted annually. Please reach out to our email, fiupump@gmail.com, with any questions that you have.
