The Compliance and Support Services (CASS) unit in the Office of Student Affairs oversees the college’s pre-matriculation and follow-up of students' annual compliance requirements. The office manages the ongoing compliance process for student clearance required prior to clinical rotations. The unit manages excused absence requests and helps facilitate the process of making up missed academic activities. Additionally, in collaboration with an OSA Dean, the unit advises students regarding academic/professionalism matters, brought forth to the Medical Student Evaluation Promotions Committee (MSEPC). The office serves as a central point of contact for medical students seeking information and provide direction on a variety of resources and services available to students within HWCOM and the university at large. Advisement to students experiencing academic, professional, and/or personal difficulty is also available. Students are referred to corresponding units and services depending on the nature of their needs and circumstances.
This website provides an overview of important information specific to compliance requirements for medical student pre-matriculation and clinical rotations, and student advisement regarding a variety of resources available at HWCOM and the university at large. If you have any questions regarding these processes, please feel free to contact us at mdcompliance@fiu.edu.
