Faculty Advisor: Sanaz Kashan, MD
The mission of this organization will be to foster connection, communication, and camaraderie among the Middle Eastern and North African communities at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Additionally, it will advocate for the health and education of the Greater Miami MENA population through community service projects, spreading awareness of the MENA patient experience through cultural sensitivity initiatives, and advocating for middle eastern and north African immigrants and refugees. It will allow opportunities for volunteering, professional development, and research. Health professionals will be invited to speak on their insights into treating MENA populations and their experiences as MENA providers. The organization will also connect with similar organizations at other medical schools to promote professional networking. MENA in Medicine will promote research and data collection on the MENA population to increase this marginalized population's visibility.
