The Healthcare in Action (HIA) Fellowship is an experiential learning opportunity that immerses FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine students in healthcare policy and leadership. HIA fellows have the opportunity to write research briefs specific to their legislative interests, present their work at the annual FIU Research Symposium, and participate in a fly-in to Washington, D.C., where they meet with healthcare stakeholders including legislators, federal agencies, think tanks, lobbying groups, and non-governmental organizations. HIA partners with FIU in D.C. to instill passionate medical students with the knowledge, confidence, and experience to spark change in their future careers.
