Principal Investigator

Madepalli Lakshmana
Assistant Professor, Department of Immunology and Nano-Medicine

Madepalli Lakshmana, Ph.D. is an expert in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) with more than twenty years of experience in the field of neurodegeneration research. Lakshmana acquired basic concepts and advanced knowledge on the brain and nervous system through mandatory course work during MS, M.Phil, and Ph.D. training programs.

Lakshmana’s strengths lie in the strong conceptual and technical expertise in both neurophysiology (M.Phil and Ph.D. training) and molecular biology/mouse genetics (through international training opportunities such as ICGEB fellowship, Italy, and STA fellowship, Japan). His postdoctoral training also included in the University of California, San Diego.

Mohan Kumar Muthu Karuppan
Postdoctoral Associate

Mohan Kumar is a trained pharmacologist. He currently works on adult brain neurogenesis by quantifying new borne neurons in the subgranular zone (SGZ) and subventricular zone (SVZ) after injecting mice with BrdU in the mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease in the background of spatial and temporal knockout of TFEB. He also does proteomic studies to quantify neuroinflammatory markers following the immunological challenge with LPS and polyI:C.
