Alzheimer’s disease is a complex and devastating disease
In spite of hundreds of clinical trials to date, the failure to identify even a single drug that can modify the course of the disease and ameliorate memory loss for a long time reflects the highly complex nature of Alzheimer’s disease. We believe only innovative translational research based on novel targets will significantly enhance the discovery of new drugs. If you share our vision of bringing disease-modifying therapy to Alzheimer’s disease, we request individuals, groups, or philanthropic organizations worldwide to make contributions to Lakshmana’s Alzheimer’s disease laboratory.
Alzheimer’s research needs your support
We conduct cutting-edge research with the sole aim of thoroughly understanding the pathology of Alzheimer’s disease and based on that understanding identify new therapeutic targets and small-molecule modulators as novel disease-modifying therapeutics for Alzheimer’s disease. Our research depends on successfully securing federal and state grants. While some of our research is supported through grants, several of our very promising projects also need support from private donors. If you care for someone with Alzheimer’s disease, even small donations can move us a step closer to finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
What we will do with your donation
All donations received will be spent directly to carry out innovative research activities. The funds will be used to develop novel biological assays and throughput screenings of thousands of small molecule compounds that may give us a high chance of identifying a new drug scaffold. Thus, the funds will be used to buy small equipment, biological reagents, disposable laboratory items, to procure specialized cells and brain tissues.
