The University of Miami Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and the McKnight Vision Research Center offers a comprehensive research training program with mentored training experiences. Training is provided in the interdisciplinary areas of biomedical sciences, biomedical engineering, and clinical research. Both short and long-term opportunities are available for trainees at all levels.

The Less Exposure Surgery (LES) Clinic Research Institute offers clinical and biomechanical research opportunities for Medical Students who have an interest in Orthopedics and Spine Surgery. Students will participate in clinical research studies from inception, data analysis, methodology and submission for publication. As part of the process, students will learn how to develop study protocols, and IRB proposals needed for study approval. Students will have additional opportunities to observe cutting edge surgical techniques with our team and visit our mechanical and biomechanical sites.

- Baptist Health Orthopedic Care
Baptist Health Orthopedic Care at Baptist Health South Florida offers volunteer opportunities for FIU medical students who have an interest in the field of medicine. Volunteers will be assigned to a clinical study and assist the research team in the process of data entry and data collection. Volunteers will also learn how to develop a protocol and complete all regulatory compliance paperwork needed for a study to be approved. Adding to the incomparable experience of volunteering at Baptist Health, volunteers will also have the opportunity to build relationships with our talented team of physicians. All volunteers will always be under the supervision of our Research Data Coordinator, Camila A. Torres-Caiaffa.
*There are no minimum volunteer hours required
