Student travel is an important part of your professional development and growth. Attending meetings and conferences presents many opportunities for students. It allows students to represent HWCOM, present scholarship and research, network with other professionals, explore career opportunities, bring information back to our school, and advocate for issues important to medical education and health care. In 2015-2016, more than 200 medical students gave over 40 presentations at 39 national and international conferences.
Funding opportunities are available to assist medical students who wish to attend meetings and conferences. Organizations that may be able to assist with funding include:
- Graduate and Professional Student Committee
- Medical Student Council
- Student Interest Groups
A guideline to applying for these funding opportunities, deadlines, and requirements can be found on CanvasMed or you can reach out to the Student Travel Specialist for additional support.
