The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine offers a Summer Research Fellowship Program to provide an opportunity to current year one, year two medical students and pre-matriculants to gain additional research experience through a variety of research projects available in basic, educational, population outcomes, translational and clinical research.
The Summer Research Fellowship Program is awarded on a competitive basis. Existing medical students in good standing and pre-matriculants who are interested in gaining additional research experience are eligible to apply. The duration of the fellowship is 6 weeks and there must be a mutual agreement with a faculty member.
Current medical students will receive a stipend for $2,500. Pre-matriculants will receive a tuition waiver for $2,000 in the Spring semester.
Students are required to attend the Summer Research Fellowship Banquet, on July 23 from 5-7 p.m., in order to participate in the program.
Current year 1 and year 2 medical students, in good academic standing, interested in applying will need to identify a research area of interest from this list of HWCOM faculty research mentors and their research areas. Once the research interest is identified, the applicant must contact the faculty member and set up an appointment to discuss and develop the project proposal. Once both parties agree, the faculty member must sign the application form and submit it to the Office of Research to Odalys De La Rosa at firstname.lastname@example.org for review and approval.
The following form has to be completed:
Application deadline is April 30, 2020.
