Classroom Teaching

The large majority of faculty working in medical education did not receive formal training in teaching and education as part of becoming physicians, other healthcare providers and scientists. Yet, the demands of 21st century medical education requires that faculty have foundational knowledge and skills in curriculum, teaching and assessing, and work to continually improve those skills.

HWCOM has important and dedicated resources to support our faculty in this journey.

Within the Office of Medical Education, the Assistant Dean for Learning and Teaching, the Director of Clinical Faculty Development and the Assistant Director of Faculty Development coordinate resources within HWCOM and FIU, identify and support use of resources offered outside of FIU, provide consultations, and offer programs on campus and at all HWCOM clinical sites to develop faculty as educators.

These individuals maintain the resource listings on this page. We welcome all suggestions for additional programs, and new resources to expand this list to better meet the needs of faculty.
