Dr. Manuel Angel Peñalver has been in private practice for the past 15 years and works out of Coral Gables Hospital, Kendall Regional Hospital, and Mercy Hospital. He received his M.D. from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1977.
He went on to complete Gynecologic Oncology fellowship training at the UM/Jackson Memorial Medical Center and joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the UM Medical School, where he became chairman in 1999. At the present time, he is the chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
He is the recipient of numerous awards for teaching excellence and his work has been published in a long list of peer-reviewed journals, textbooks, and chapters.
He recently received the International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) Award for Outstanding Achievement in Gynecologic Oncology Surgery. This award is presented to a gynecologic oncologist recognized for lifetime surgical achievements and contributions. The award was given in Rio de Janeiro.
