Dr. Juan M. Lozano is a pediatrician and clinical epidemiologist who heads the Division of Medical and Population Health Sciences and co-directs the Research Scholarship Course.
Before joining FIU, he was a pediatrics and clinical epidemiology professor at Javeriana University in Colombia, where he held leadership roles in pediatrics, clinical epidemiology and biostatistics. He also served as medical officer for research at the WHO Acute Respiratory Infections Control Programme in Geneva, Switzerland. He directed the National Program of Science and Technology in Health at Colciencias--the governmental institution manages public research funds in Colombia.
Lozano has published over 100 articles in medical journals and 25 book chapters. He has been an author and editor of systematic reviews for the Acute Respiratory Infections Group of the Cochrane Collaboration and was the chief editor of Pediatria, the leading pediatric journal in Colombia.
