Kirstie Downs
Kirstie Downs is the program manager for the Professional Development Strand. In this role, she works alongside the Professional Development Strand Leaders and Course Directors in the design, implementation, and management of the Professional Development courses throughout the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine curriculum in Periods 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Downs joined FIU HWCOM in August 2015 as the program specialist in the Office of Medical Education for the departments of Pediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynecology. She assisted the clerkship directors, assistant clerkship directors, and program coordinators in the development and management of the Period 3 Pediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynecology clerkships. She later became the program coordinator for the Period 3 Neurology and Radiology Clerkships and served in this role until 2019.
Downs is a proud FIU Panther. She pursued a double major in Biological Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies, and a minor in Chemistry for her undergraduate degree. Ms. Downs holds a Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Management. Prior to joining the College of Medicine, Ms. Downs brings four years of Panther experience, specifically with the Division of Student Affairs and the FIU community.
