Classroom Teaching

The large majority of faculty working in medical education did not receive formal training in teaching and education as part of becoming physicians, other healthcare providers and scientists. Yet, the demands of 21st century medical education requires that faculty have foundational knowledge and skills in curriculum, teaching and assessing, and work to continually improve those skills.

FIU Medicine has important and dedicated resources to support our faculty in this journey.

The professional development team in the Office of Academic Affairs assists with mentoring and provides faculty development opportunities. The team coordinates resources within FIU Medicine and FIU, identifies resources outside FIU, provides consultations, and offers in-person and online sessions to support faculty in their roles as educators, scholars and mentors.
