About the Lab

The Marciano Lab investigates how mechanical and oxidative stress reprogram endothelial cell signaling, epigenetic remodeling, and extracellular vesicle biology in pulmonary arterial hypertension and other cardiopulmonary vascular diseases. Using advanced endothelial shear stress systems, multi-omics technologies, extracellular vesicle profiling, and translational patient studies, the lab investigates how abnormal vascular environments drive endothelial dysfunction and vascular remodeling. The laboratory is currently supported by funding from the NIH National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the American Heart Association, and FIU/Baptist Health collaborations focused on vascular biology and extracellular vesicle biomarkers for early lung cancer detection.

Lab equipment

  • Microfluidic platform that allows endothelial cells to be exposed to physiologically relevant laminar flow and oxygen conditions that mimic the pulmonary vascular environment in health and disease.
