Our college fosters opportunities for medical students in the fields of basic, clinical, education and population science research. The college's strategic research initiatives aim to discover and advance medically-relevant knowledge to improve health outcomes in the community, region, nation and world.
Laboratory-based research is now becoming mainstream in medical training and is rapidly translated for application to human care. Conversely, application of human tissues or clinical observations is being used to build better models of human disease in the laboratory. This bi-directional activity, otherwise known as translational research, is emerging as a critical function in the community care setting, importantly in South Florida.
