Dr. José Muñiz recognized with American College of Physicians teaching award

The American College of Physicians (ACP), the largest medical specialty organization in the U.S., is honoring Dr. José Muñiz with its 2025-26 Jane F. Desforges Distinguished Teacher Award. This prestigious honor recognizes physicians who demonstrate exceptional teaching, mentorship and leadership in internal medicine.

Muñiz, an associate professor at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, facilitates the Musculoskeletal Systems Course and the Internal Medicine Clerkship. He also mentors students pursuing residencies in internal medicine.

Muñiz is program director emeritus of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Cleveland Clinic Florida and a Master of the American College of Physicians, the highest level attainable for ACP members.
