
Dr. Douglas J. Inciarte has been named chair of the new Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (FIU Medicine). A board-certified family physician, Inciarte brings extensive clinical and leadership experience to the role.
He is an associate professor at FIU Medicine and, since 2019, has served as program director for the Florida International University/Baptist Health Family Medicine Residency. He is also the chair of family medicine at Baptist Health West Kendall Hospital.
Inciarte earned his medical degree from Universidad del Zulia in Venezuela and completed his family medicine residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he also served as chief resident and held an academic appointment for more than 10 years. He holds a master’s degree in medical management from Carnegie Mellon University.
Inciarte serves on the board of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians and is a physician member of the Board of Managers for the Baptist Health Quality Network.
