Dr. Marcus St. John has been named chief of the division of cardiology, and Dr. Brian J. Schiro chief of the division of interventional radiology, two newly created divisions within the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences at Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
St. John is an interventional cardiologist, medical director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Baptist Health Baptist Hospital, and program director of the FIU/Baptist Health Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship.
Schiro is a vascular and interventional radiologist with Baptist Health Heart & Vascular Care at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute and director of the FIU/Baptist Health interventional radiology residency programs.
Both will report to Tom C. Nguyen, chair of the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences at FIU Medicine and chief medical executive of Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute.
The appointments mark an important step in the growth of the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences.
