Francisco J. Fajardo, assistant director of Public & Information Services at the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine Medical Library, has been selected for the prestigious 2024–25 National Library of Medicine and Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries Leadership Fellows Program.
Fajardo is one of only five individuals chosen nationwide for this program, designed to prepare emerging leaders for director roles in academic health science libraries. He considers the opportunity an honor and a recognition of his commitment and passion for the field. "I am excited to collaborate with other talented individuals and to learn from their diverse perspectives," he said.
The program combines in-person and virtual learning experiences, allowing participants to collaborate within a small cohort. Each fellow is paired with an experienced academic health sciences library director, who provides yearlong mentorship and hosts an on-site visit to their institution.
Fajardo joined the Wertheim Medicine Medical Library in 2009 as a founding staff member. He oversees all library access and information services and supports faculty and student conducting research.
