Student & Community Art Contests

Congratulations to the winners of the 2012 Mammography aRt Initiative Student Art Competition!

  • 1st place: Gabriela Perez "Breast Cancer: A Collective Prospective"

  • 3rd place: Edwive Seme "Clara"

This year's Mammography aRt Initiative Art Show will be held at the
Bakehouse Art Complex in the Wynwood Arts District on Saturday, October 5th 2013 and will showcase the works of local artists, community members, and students. The theme of the Art Show is "Healing" in its various forms.

Students and community artists are encouraged to enter work into the Student & Community Art Contests.

Eligibility:
Student Art Contest: Open to all students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs at Florida International University.

Community Art Contest: Open to any community member who is not a student at Florida International University.

Originality: All work must be created by the entrant. The entry must be conceptualized, developed, and completed by the entrant.

By submitting an entry, the entrant certifies that he/she owns the copyright to all the material contained within, or has permission from the copyright holder to submit the material. The entrant certifies that he/she is authorized to submit this work to the Mammography aRt Initiative 2013 Student & Community Art Contests, and gives up any right to retain the work during or after the Art Show.

Guidelines: Each student should submit only one piece of artwork per student in any medium.

Awards and Recognition: The works will be judged by a team of faculty and students from the art, medical, and public health specialties. Artists winning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will receive prizes and their pieces will be displayed at the Mammography aRt Initiative 2013 Art Show. Other works may be exhibited at the show as determined by the curating team.

There is no cost to submit to the Mammography aRt Initiative 2013 Student & Community Art Contests. Select art may be used in print and marketing materials for the Mammography aRt Initiative. Art submissions auctioned at the 2013 Art Show and all proceeds will go to the Mammography aRt Initiative's Community Breast Health Program.
