As vice chair of the Department of Oncological Sciences, Dr. Michael Chuong supports the department’s clinical operations, faculty development, and the growth of clinical programs and research. He is involved in sponsored clinical research and mentors FIU medical students in clinic and on research projects.
A radiation oncologist, Chuong specializes in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, head and neck cancers and hematologic malignancies. He treats patients using advanced radiation therapies, including proton therapy, which delivers pencil-beam scanning precision while sparing surrounding healthy tissue. He has received several awards for his work and serves as an editorial reviewer for multiple peer-reviewed medical journals. He is widely published and frequently invited to present at national and international scientific meetings.
