Jennifer Martin, Ph.D.

Jennifer Martin, a licensed clinical psychologist with nearly two decades of experience in geriatrics and veteran-centered research, leads the Benjamín León Jr. Family Center for Geriatric Research and Education and also serves as senior psychologist and director of the Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center (GRECC) at the Miami VA.

Martin mentors students and early-career scientists with an interest in aging and sleep disorders, drawing on her research, which focuses on sleep disorders, including the development and testing of new treatments for insomnia disorder and the implementation of guideline-based care for sleep disorders in older adults and women.

Before joining FIU, Martin served as a professor of medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and as the associate director for clinical and health services research at the VA Greater Los Angeles GRECC. Martin is a past president of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and received VA’s prestigious Health System Impact Award, highlighting the importance of her research in improving care for veterans with sleep disorders.
