Carlos A. Salgado is the director of medical services at the FIU Center for Children and Families. He joined the College of Medicine in November 2017 and previously served as the chief of educational programs. He is the founding program director for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Citrus Health Network in partnership with Florida International University.

Dr. Salgado is board certified in general psychiatry, child-adolescent psychiatry, and forensic psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. 

As a clinician-educator, his scholarly work has focused on child and adolescent forensic psychiatry, psychotropic medication use in child welfare populations, healthcare disparities, and wellness in clinical learning environments. He has extensive experience in the development, management, and expansion of graduate medical education programs.
