Dr. Carlos A. Salgado is the director of medical services at the FIU Center for Children and Families and practices with the FIU Health Faculty Group Practice. He joined the College of Medicine in November 2017 and previously served as chief of educational programs. He is the founding program director of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Citrus Health Network, established in partnership with Florida International University.
Dr. Salgado is board-certified in general psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and forensic psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
As a clinician-educator, his scholarly work has focused on child and adolescent forensic psychiatry, the use of psychotropic medication in child welfare populations, health care disparities, and wellness in clinical learning environments. He has extensive experience in the development, management, and expansion of graduate medical education programs.
