About the Lab

The Kim Lab has been supported by the National Cancer Institute and the National Institute on Aging for more than 15 years. The lab focuses on the potential application of proteasome inhibitors to challenging, incurable diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and age-related macular degeneration, as well as cancer.

Additional research includes developing immunoproteasome inhibitors that target the catalytic subunits LMP2 and LMP7 with favorable pharmaceutical properties to treat chronic inflammatory disorders, including inflammatory bowel disease and other autoimmune diseases.
