Accepted Students

Congratulations on your acceptance to HWCOM! There is still a lot to do before you start class in July, and we want to help you get off to a great start. Here is valuable information to help guide you through the process! Please check this website periodically for updates.

Pre-Matriculation

Information regarding Pre-Matriculation Requirements will be communicated mid-May. All Pre-Matriculation eForms are available for completion on MyFIU.

Freshman Onboarding

Freshman Onboarding helps you transition smoothly into medical school. During this week, before classes begin, you will learn about our medical school curriculum, policies and procedures, get to know your classmates and become familiar with campus resources and services. By the end of onboarding, you will be well on your way to becoming a successful Wertheim Medicine medical student.

Dates for Freshman Onboarding for the Class of 2029 are TBD. Details will be updated and communicated as they become available. Attendance is mandatory for all onboarding activities. The White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2029 is also TBD.

Important resources

  • FIU Account

FIU Account is the university's central authentication system. It will manage your online identity at FIU. To obtain your Panther ID, username and password, visit FIU Account and click Support.

  • FIU email account

Med Students get an Office 365 email. It is important that you keep your email account current (delete unnecessary messages) in order to keep important messages from being rejected due to lack of space in your Inbox.

    • Not only can you access your email through Outlook, but you could also go directly to: https://mail.fiu.edu/
    • Email accounts will be available in June. You will receive an email from the Office of Admissions when your email account is ready for use.
  • Discounted software

FIU University Technology Services establishes license agreements that allow students to purchase copies of major software applications at discounted prices. To purchase software online, visit Panther Tech.

  • FIU Onecard and medical ID badge

The FIU Onecard serves as your student ID and ATM card if you choose to open a Wells Fargo account with FIU. This card will also grant you door access to medical school resources, the library, the recreation center, and athletics events and can also serve as a meal pass. More information is forthcoming regarding your FIU Onecard and medical ID badge.

  • Parking

A student virtual parking permit is available to currently enrolled students who want to park a vehicle on campus. A transportation access fee is assessed to all students per semester as part of their enrollment fees except for students registered for a fully online degree program. Students using tuition waivers or otherwise classified as exempt.
