Graduate Certificate to M.D. Program

Students who meet defined academic and professional metrics, including attendance and mandatory advising sessions upon completion of the graduate certificate, are guaranteed acceptance or an interview to the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (FIU Medicine) M.D. program. Only U.S. citizens or permanent residents are eligible for the guaranteed interview or acceptance.

Guaranteed Acceptance to the M.D. Degree Program

Applicants who are enrolled in or have completed the Graduate Certificate Program in Molecular and Biomedical Sciences (GCP) and meet all application criteria outlined below are guaranteed acceptance to the FIU Medicine M.D. program.

Students seeking guaranteed acceptance must:

  • Minimum GCP GPA 3.7 through week five of spring semester
  • Grade of B or above in each GCP course
  • Demonstration of adequate professionalism
  • Submission of AMCAS and Supplemental application, including a current MCAT (within three years of medical school matriculation)
  • GCP Letter of Recommendation

Guaranteed Interview to the M.D. Degree Program

Applicants who are currently enrolled in or have completed the Graduate Certificate Program in Molecular and Biomedical Sciences (GCP) and meet all application criteria outlined below are guaranteed a one-time interview for the FIU Medicine M.D. program.

Students seeking a guaranteed interview must:

  • Minimum fall semester GCP GPA 3.7 (in cycle)
  • Minimum Total GCP GPA 3.7 after program completion (subsequent cycles)
  • Minimum MCAT score of 500
  • Grade of B or above in each GCP course
  • Demonstration of adequate professionalism
  • Submission of AMCAS and Supplemental application, including a current MCAT (within three years of medical school matriculation)
  • GCP Letter of Recommendation
  • Applicants applying during the current cycle must submit a completed application by December 1
  • Applicants applying after program completion (subsequent cycle) must submit a completed application by September 1

Students that have not applied for the current cycle and meet the criteria will be guaranteed an interview for the following admissions cycle.
