Clinical Services

Our faculty provide comprehensive care for patients with a full range of urologic conditions. Services include diagnosis and treatment for general urology, urologic oncology, minimally invasive and laparoscopic procedures, and reconstructive surgeries. Patients have access to advanced technology and innovative surgical techniques at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Education & Training

Third-year medical students complete their surgical rotations with exposure to urologic patients and procedures. Fourth-year students may choose from two- or four-week urology electives or a four-week sub-internship for those pursuing the specialty.

Students shadow surgeons, participate in patient care and attend multiple teaching conferences. Faculty also mentor members of the Urology Interest Group and provide guidance on career planning.

Research

Students are encouraged to engage in scholarly activities and explore research opportunities with faculty. Areas of interest include innovative surgical techniques, patient outcomes and the advancement of urologic care.

Faculty & Staff

Our department is led by physicians who bring expertise from their active urology practices to the classroom and clinic, offering students valuable mentorship and training. Dr. Shweta Akhouri is the primary contact for medical education clerkships.
