Clinical Services
Pediatric care is provided at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, one of the largest freestanding pediatric centers in the region. Through FIU’s affiliation with Nicklaus Children’s, the department delivers family-centered care while preparing the next generation of pediatricians.
The hospital’s size and scope expose students, residents and fellows to a broad range of specialties and high-volume services. Clinical strengths include critical care, outpatient pediatrics, neurology, gastroenterology and cardiology. Care is also extended through Nicklaus Children’s urgent care centers across South Florida.
Education & Training
Education in pediatrics is mandatory for all students, providing a combination of clinical rotations, simulation experiences, mentoring and innovative teaching strategies. Faculty have developed Maintenance of Certification (MOC) programs and participate in continuing medical education (CME) at the local, county and state levels.
The department supports residency and fellowship training at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, which hosts the largest pediatric residency program south of Atlanta. The program includes a growing number of FIU Medicine graduates, emphasizing the strength of its academic partnership and training environment.
