Curriculum

The FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine’s StepUp Curriculum is a unique, innovative, and integrated four-year MD program that will prepare you for the medical specialty of your choice. Our curriculum emphasizes patient-centered care, student well-being, and the seamless integration of foundational and clinical sciences. Clinical training starts during the first year of medical school. Learning across all four years is augmented by training in our modern simulation facility and our brand-new 7,000-square-foot Anatomy and 3D Printing Lab (under construction).

As a community-based medical school, our students have the advantage of training with a highly diverse patient population in various public and private inpatient and outpatient clinical settings. In alignment with our mission, our students also gain hands-on, home-based experience observing and caring for families through the Green Family Foundation Neighborhood Health Education Learning Program (NeighborhoodHELP).

No matter what career in medicine you choose, our curriculum will help you get there!
