FIU Honors Dr. Noël Barengo with 2025 Conference USA Faculty Achievement Award

Dr. Noël Barengo, associate professor at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, has been named FIU’s recipient of the 2025 Conference USA (CUSA) Faculty Achievement Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to teaching, research, and service. This honor highlights Barengo’s exceptional academic career and his lasting impact in the field of public health.

As FIU’s awardee, Barengo is now a finalist for the 2025 CUSA Professor of the Year Award, which recognizes one faculty member across all CUSA institutions for exceptional academic achievement.

Barengo, an internationally recognized epidemiologist, has over 20 years of experience teaching epidemiology, public health, and research methods. He has taught extensively in undergraduate and graduate programs across Europe and Latin America.

Beyond the classroom, Barengo serves as chair of the FIU Faculty Senate, where he advocates for faculty governance and academic excellence. He also represents FIU Faculty as a member of the FIU Board of Trustees.
