The International Medical Student Program offers clinical learning experiences with faculty from FIU Medicine. Through supervised rotations, students develop clinical skills and gain exposure to U.S. health care systems, medical specialties and best practices.

Highly motivated and qualified students are selected for four-week elective rotations in inpatient and outpatient settings throughout South Florida. Placements are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to a student’s qualifications. Upon completion of a rotation, students receive a letter of completion and a clinical evaluation from their preceptors.

Clinical Sites for Elective Rotations

Clinical elective rotations provide international medical students with hands-on experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings across hospitals, ambulatory centers and private practices. Students work with faculty and preceptors across a range of specialties, gaining exposure to diverse patient populations and the day-to-day delivery of care in U.S. health care systems. Consultation services and hospital visits take place at multiple clinical sites throughout each rotation. Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from these locations.
