Applications

Applications for Fall 2026 open on January 15, 2026.

Steps to Apply

  • 1. Complete the College of Medicine Graduate Certificate Departmental Application

You must complete the Graduate Certificate departmental application and provide the names of two recommenders. You won’t be charged a fee to submit this application. Apply as early as possible to give your recommenders plenty of time to submit their letters of recommendation.

  • 2. Complete the FIU University Graduate School Admissions Application

To apply, complete the FIU Graduate School Admissions application online. Start by creating a user account with login credentials. Once logged in, select “Graduate Certificate,” then choose “Graduate Certificate in Molecular and Biomedical Sciences” from the drop-down menu.

Be sure to include a valid email address in your application, as the FIU University Graduate School Admissions Office will send all official communications—including your admissions decision—via email. Make sure your email settings allow messages from gradadm@fiu.edu.

You don’t have to finish the application in one sitting. You can log in and make changes as many times as needed. However, once you submit the application, it is electronically delivered to the Graduate Admissions Office and can no longer be edited. You can still upload supplemental materials after submission.

Pay the $30 application fee using a major credit card. Your application will not be processed until the fee is paid.

Upload your state residency documents with your Graduate School Admissions application. These documents are required for all applicants, regardless of whether you are a Florida resident.

After your application is received, you will receive a Panther ID and a confirmation email.

The Graduate Certificate Admissions Committee reviews completed applications on a rolling basis. To be considered, make sure you submit all required documents by the application deadline. You can track your application status by logging into both the MyFIU student portal and the graduate certificate application portal.

  • 3. Submit Official Transcripts

Official transcripts must be submitted for each college or university an applicant has attended. Transcripts must come directly from the issuing institution to FIU in sealed envelopes or via secure electronic contact to the University Graduate School. Applicants who have attended FIU or are currently attending FIU do not need to submit an FIU transcript.

Official transcripts can be submitted electronically to gradadm@fiu.edu.

Transcripts sent via mail or courier services should be sent to:

Modesto A. Maidique Campus, BT 201
    11200 S.W. 8th Street

  • 4. Letters of Recommendation

You must submit at least two letters of recommendation, including one from a science faculty member. The admissions committee will not accept or consider letters from friends or family members.

Ask your recommenders to speak to your academic preparation, motivation, analytical ability, and potential for success as a health professional—these are the qualities the admissions committee values most.

Do not request letters through the University Graduate School application. Instead, enter your recommenders’ names and email addresses in the departmental application. After you submit the application, the system will automatically email them with instructions for uploading their letters.
