As a socially-accountable, community-based medical school, HWCOM is committed to tackling issues that negatively impact the health of our communities. The Panther Learning Communities in the Office of Student Affairs assists medical students and student organizations in identifying and facilitating coordinating volunteer co-curricular activities that positively impact South Florida’s underserved communities and enhance student learning outcomes. Such activities include educational outreach programs, health fairs, a student-run clinic, and at-large events. In certain cases, volunteer Community Engagement activities are coordinated with, NeighborhoodHELP™, the community capstone project, or with other signature programs offered through the Panther Learning Communities.
