Goals

The main goals of CPNM and INIP are to:

  1. Develop novel drug delivery platform technologies combining with gene editing CRISPR technology using Personalized Nanomedicine approach to treat NeuroAIDS, drug addiction and CNS diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and other neurodegenerative ailments.
  2. Develop and sustain a program of translational research (bench to bedside) and training in the fields of Immunology, NeuroImmune pharmacology of drug abuse, HIV/CNS diseases and nanomedicine.
  3. Promote extramural funding based research, training and instrumentation.
  4. Build bridges between research and training activities at the graduate, undergraduate and post-doctoral levels for Ph.D., M.D. and M.P.H. scientists and practicing immunologists and nanotechnologist.
  5. Promote collaboration between FIU and South Florida communities, academic institutions, industries and government organizations at the regional, national and international level in areas of Neuro-Immunology, anti-HIV and anti-addiction nano-therapeutics.
  6. Generate employment opportunities to attract and retain exceptional scientists who have demonstrated an exceptional track record of independent funding and innovative research, as well as, the desire to mentor undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral students.
