The Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office at Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) serves as a liaison between all the HWCOM clinical affiliates. The GME office works strategically with GME Academic Directors, Program Directors, and each program’s Graduate Medical Education Committee. The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is enthusiastic about the prosperity of all the residents and fellows and is proud to be a part of the journey in shaping future clinicians and physician leaders that will be caring for communities in years to come.

It is the goal of the HWCOM to ameliorate South Florida’s current and anticipated physician shortages. Interaction among residents and fellows and medical students is integral to the medical education process, allowing residents to develop skills as educators while allowing medical students to gain an understanding of their roles and responsibilities in the next step of their medical education. All residents and fellows involved in teaching, assessing, and/or supervising HWCOM medical students undergo orientation to the program objectives and guidance to prepare them for their roles. HWCOM encourages you to navigate this website and learn more about how residency and fellowships programs at the university’s teaching affiliates can help open the door to a rewarding career in medicine.
