Accepted Students

Congratulations on your acceptance to HWCOM! There is still a lot to do before you start class in August, and we want to help you get off to a great start. Here is valuable information to help guide you through the process! Please check this website periodically for updates.

Pre-Matriculation

Freshman Orientation

Freshman Orientation is designed to help you make a smooth transition into medical school. During this first week, prior to start of classes, you will learn about our medical school curriculum, policies and procedures, get to know your fellow classmates, and become familiar with campus resources and services. It is our goal that by the time you leave orientation, you'll be well on your way to becoming a successful HWCOM medical student.

Freshman Orientation for the Class of 2022 will take place TBA.

Panther Day will be held on TBA and the White Coat Ceremony is scheduled to take place on TBA.

Important Resources

  • My Accounts

MyAccounts is FIU's central authentication system. It will manage your online identity at FIU. To obtain your FIU Panther ID, Username and password, visit MyAccounts https://myaccounts.fiu.edu/  and click "Need Help?".

  • FIU E-mail Account

Med Students get Office365 (Exchange) email. It is important that you keep your e-mail account current (delete unnecessary messages) in order to keep important e-mails from being rejected due to lack of space in your Inbox.

Not only can you access your email through Outlook, but you could also go directly to: https://fiumail.fiu.edu

  • Discounted Software

FIU University Technology Services (UTS) establishes license agreements that allow students to purchase copies of major software applications at discounted prices. To purchase software online, visit Panthertech http://panthertech.fiu.edu

  • FIU One Card and Medical ID Badge

The FIU One Card will serve as your student ID and ATM card if you choose to open a Wells Fargo account with FIU. This card will also grant you door access to medical school resources, the library, the recreation center, athletics events, and can serve as a meal pass.

Time will be provided during orientation week to obtain the FIU One Card and your medical ID badge. However, you can obtain these items any time after July 15th. The card office is located by the Gold Parking Garage (PG1 Room 100) on the Modesto A. Maidique (MMC) main campus. First time users must bring a government-issued photo ID (driver's license or passport) with them to obtain their FIU One Card and Medical ID Badge. Go to https://shop.fiu.edu/onecard/ for more information about the FIU One Card.

  • Parking

A parking permit is required for students who wish to park on the FIU campus. FIU no longer issues decals. We currently use virtual permits which are linked to your tag. You must register your vehicle at: https://fiu.nupark.com/portal/Account/Login?ReturnUrl=%2fportal%2f any time after July 15, 2017.

You will need to log into the system using your FIU My Accounts User Name & Password. When you log on please select ‘Add New Vehicle’ to register your vehicle.
