Congratulations on your acceptance to HWCOM! There is still a lot to do before you start class in August, and we want to help you get off to a great start. Here is valuable information to help guide you through the process! Please check this website periodically for updates.


All pre-matriculation forms can be found online and should be submitted on your FIU student portal ( All pre-matriculation requirements must be sumitted by July 1st.

Freshman Orientation

Freshman Orientation is designed to help you make a smooth transition into medical school. During this first week, prior to start of classes, you will learn about our medical school curriculum, policies and procedures, get to know your fellow classmates, and become familiar with campus resources and services. It is our goal that by the time you leave orientation, you'll be well on your way to becoming a successful HWCOM medical student.

Freshman Orientation for the Class of 2022 will take place Friday, July 27, 2018 – Thursday, August 2, 2018.

The White Coat Ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 28, 2018. Orientation will continue Monday, July 30, 2018 – August 1, 2018 and Panther Day will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018.

  • My Accounts

    MyAccounts is FIU's central authentication system. It will manage your online identity at FIU. To obtain your FIU Panther ID, Username and password, visit MyAccounts  and click "Need Help?".

  • FIU E-mail Account

    Med Students get an Office365 (Exchange) email. It is important that you keep your e-mail account current (delete unnecessary messages) in order to keep important e-mails from being rejected due to lack of space in your Inbox.

    Not only can you access your email through Outlook, but you could also go directly to:

    Email accounts will be available in June. You will receive an email from the Office of Admissions when your email account is ready for use. 

  • Discounted Software

    FIU University Technology Services (UTS) establishes license agreements that allow students to purchase copies of major software applications at discounted prices. To purchase software online, visit Panthertech

  • FIU One Card and Medical ID Badge

    The FIU One Card will serve as your student ID and ATM card if you choose to open a Wells Fargo account with FIU. This card will also grant you door access to medical school resources, the library, the recreation center, athletics events, and can serve as a meal pass.

    Time will be provided during orientation week to obtain the FIU One Card and your medical ID badge. However, you can obtain these items any time after July 15th. The card office is located by the Gold Parking Garage (PG1 Room 100) on the Modesto A. Maidique (MMC) main campus. First time users must bring a government-issued photo ID (driver's license or passport) with them to obtain their FIU One Card and Medical ID Badge.   • Parking

    A student virtual parking permit is available to each student who is currently enrolled and would like to park a vehicle on campus. A Transportation Access Fee is assesed to all students per semester as part of their enrollment fees except for students registered for a fully online degree program. Students using tuition waiver, or otherwise classified as exempt.

    You must register your vehicle online any time after July 15th ( You will need to log into the system using your FIU MyAccounts username and password. When you log on please select 'Add New Vehicle' to register your vehicle. It is important that you register your vehicle prior to the first day Freshman Orientation.

    24x7 IT phone support is available to all HWCOM and FIU Health faculty, staff and students for urgent matters.

    Call or email the IT Help Desk and the on-call agent will respond to your urgent issue within two hours.
