Michael McDermott, M.D.

In addition to overseeing the Department of Neuroscience at FIU Medicine, Dr. Michael McDermott serves as the chief medical executive and Irma & Kalman Bass Endowed Chair in Clinical Neuroscience at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute.

Dr. McDermott, a board-certified neurosurgeon, is widely known for advancing neurosurgical techniques and is an expert in the treatment of a wide variety of neurological disorders. He is one of the world’s leading experts in meningioma—the most common primary brain tumor in adults.
