Dr. Shweta Akhouri teaches medical students at all levels, focusing on clinical skills, case-based, and problem-based learning. As faculty for Green Family Foundation Neighborhood Health Education Learning Program (NeighborhoodHELP), she supervises interprofessional household visits with medical, nursing, social work, and physician assistant students in underserved communities throughout Miami-Dade County. She sees NeighborhoodHELP patients in North Miami at one of the program’s Mobile Health Centers. Dr. Akhouri also enjoys writing and using narrative medicine to reflect on her own experiences while empowering physicians and patients. Akhouri joined HWCOM in July 2020. 

After completing her residency at the University of St. Louis, Dr. Akhouri became a faculty member in the same residency program, training residents in inpatient and outpatient settings and serving as medical director for their clinic. She joined HWCOM in 2020.
