Mercedes Florez, M.D., is a dermatologist with over 40-years’ experience in academics and private practice. In addition to teaching students -she is the course director for dermatology- she also treats patients at the FIU Health Faculty Group Practice and at Student Health Services.

Florez is an internationally renowned expert and speaker on cosmetic dermatology, acne, rosacea, skin aging, and pigmentation disorders. She is a member of the board and vice-president of the International Society of Dermatology, and a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the European Academy of Dermatology. She serves as a coordinator for the Iberian-Latin American Group for the Study of Acne and Rosacea and as secretary of the Foundation for International Dermatologic Education.

Florez is a past president of the Colombian Association of Dermatology and past vice president of the Iberian Latin American College of Dermatology and has authored multiple peer-review publications and books.
