Dr. Emiri Uchiyama leads simulation-based education for undergraduate medical students, the physician assistant program, residents and allied health professionals at the Albert and Debbie Taño Medical Simulation Center.
She oversees the design, implementation and evaluation of programs that foster critical thinking, teamwork and patient safety.
Under her direction, the simulation center has expanded its offerings to include high-fidelity simulation, standardized patient encounters, task trainer labs and virtual and mixed-reality experiences. Uchiyama also collaborates with faculty across disciplines to develop scenario-based training aligned with current clinical and educational priorities, such as patient-centered communication, procedural competency and emergency response.
