Jonathan Sussman, MSEE, MBA, has had an extensive background in working in private industry, entrepreneurial consulting fields, and academic administration. After completing his BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (majoring in Computer Science) he entered the world of high technology manufacturing. Over several decades, he worked for numerous computer and data communications companies in the areas of design engineering, operations management, test engineering, and quality assurance. During this time, he also obtained his MBA from Nova University. Thereafter, he started his own information technology consulting company, specializing in servicing small business enterprises in quality assurance and personal computer support. In 2002, he joined Miami Dade College initially to launch their new technology learning center. He was promoted to the Director of the School of Technology and Engineering, responsible for college-wide programs for over 10,000 students. He joined FIU in 2005 as the Associate Director for Research Programs for the College of Engineering and Computing where he provided administrative and collaborative support for the 120 faculty members in research initiatives averaging over $14 million of externally funded awards annually. In January 2009, he joined the College of Medicine to perform a similar role for the emerging research programs. A key function is the development of new collaborative partnerships within the university, as well as with other institutions of higher learning and with biotechnology industry. In addition to administratively supporting the HWCOM researchers, he is also responsible for coordinating faculty credentials within the Office of Academic Affairs.
