Pura Rodríguez de la Vega received her BS in Chemical Engineering from the “Jose Antonio Echevarria” Higher Polytechnical Institute, University of Havana, Cuba. After graduation, she worked in the Biotechnology Division at National Center for Scientific Research (CNIC). After seven years, she started to work at Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital where she focused on research in Cryopreservation of Bone Marrow in Allogeneic Transplant. She moved to the United States and had the opportunity to work in a Comprehensive AIDS Program at the University of Miami, Medical School, with responsibilities for Data Management, and Data Analysis, and also performing immuno-histochemistry techniques on brain tissues. In 1999, she joined Florida International University as Data Management at the Southeast Environmental Research Center. She was responsible for raw data processing from Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and final data validation, and preparation of data report to Governmental Agencies. Pura graduated from the FIU Robert Stemple School of Public Health with a Master of Public Health with specialization in Biostatistics. She joined the FIU HW College of Medicine’s Division of Research and Information in 2009 as a research analyst.
