Jose M. Martinez Elejalde M.D., F. A.C.P., F.A.C.C., HCMBA, graduated from Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico in 1987 and did his residency training in Internal Medicine, Fellowship in cardiology and Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the University of Miami. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology as well as certified level II training in Cardiac CT. Dr. Martinez completed his HCMBA from the Florida International University School of Business in 2011. He remains committed to education and holds a rank of Assistant Professor at the Herbert Wertheim FIU College of Medicine.
After training Dr. Martinez entered private practice during which time served as a medical director for Physicians Corporation of America and later Med Partners/ Inphynet MSO serving as Director of their South Florida Tri-county Cardiology Network. He also served as the medical director for the Florida Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Options post discharge heart failure management program. In hospital practice Dr. Martinez served as Chief of the Department of Cardiology at Mercy Hospital Miami 2003-2004. In 2007 Dr. Martinez joined the PHT-Jackson Health System as Quality Director for Physicians services Administration and Medical director of the Jackson Medical Group Multi Specialty Clinic. In 2010 he was named Chief Medical Director for the Jackson Health Plan HMO, Miami, Florida. As chair of the South Florida Community Care Network Quality Committee, Dr. Martinez had oversight of the quality of care provided to the SFCCN –PSN two county safety net Medicaid populations.
In June 2014 Dr. Martinez joined HCA East Florida Division as Assistant Chief Medical Officer based at Northwest Medical Center.
