A New York City native and FIU alumnus, Ferdinand Gomez currently serves as the Director of the Human Anatomy and Pathology Teaching Laboratories and Instructor in the Department of Cellular Biology and Pharmacology. Having previously served as the Coordinator and Instructor of the human anatomy and foundations physiology courses for the Department of Biological Sciences (College of Arts and Sciences and Education), Mr. Gomez brings more than a decade of basic sciences instructional experience to the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
Mr. Gomez was the recipient of an Excellence in Teaching Award for E-Learning at the 2018 HWCOM Research Symposium and Faculty/Student Awards Ceremony; while in 2013, he received an Excellence in Teaching Award at the FIU annual faculty convocation and awards ceremony. His responsibilities include the administration of the anatomy and pathology teaching laboratory facilities, along with the instruction of the basic sciences (anatomy, histology, and embryology) to medical students in periods 1-4.
