The main types of financial aid available to medical students are scholarships, grants, and student loans.

• HWCOM awards scholarships based on financial need, academic merit, and diversity.
• No Federal grants are available to medical students; however, medical students may apply for institutional grants awarded by FIU. Eligibility for institutional grants is determined by the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine Financial Aid Office based on FAFSA information.
• A variety of student loan programs are available to assist medical students in financing the cost of medical education.
