- Biography
Christian Castro is the Curriculum and Faculty Development Coordinator in the Office of the Assistant Dean for Learning and Teaching. He works with the Assistant Dean to manage the Curriculum Evaluation and Review Committee, which works toward maintaining a coherent, integrated, and coordinated curriculum, consistency of policies and procedures, blended learning styles across the curriculum and within courses, development and assessment of competence, development of succinct and practical syllabi, and monitoring of student workload. Christian is also responsible for coordinating faculty development activities for on- and off-site FIU COM faculty, managing the third-year Core Concepts in Medicine course, writing the Learning and Teaching Newsletter, and managing the Learning and Teaching Website. Christian has extensive experience in development and assessment of learning outcomes at all institutional levels, curriculum integration, educational planning, and learning theories, which he attained during his years of teaching and working for the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Cuesta Community College in San Luis Obispo, California. His professional passion is to do whatever is necessary to see students actively engaged in their learning. Christian has academic training in music theory (B.M., M.Mus.) and systematic theology (M.Th.), and he is currently completing a doctorate degree in liturgical theology.
